DAVID TRIPP “TRIPP”
Coach/Owner

Land Warrior CrossFit - Coach DavidDave started his fitness journey over a decade ago. He experimented with many different training routines ranging from weightlifting, distance running, Mixed Martial Arts and yoga. After reaching a certain amount of success with his fitness and body composition, he hit a plateau and became bored. A good friend introduced Dave to CrossFit in 2012. Quickly inspired by the intensity of work required and the support of the CrossFit community Dave turned to CrossFit as his one and only training program. Looking to spread the knowledge, inspiration and fitness gains Dave started his journey to be a Coach and opened Land Warrior CrossFit.  His goal was to create a place where every person is respected as an athlete and inspired to work hard. Shortly after opening the doors at Land Warrior Dave was called up for his second deployment with the Connecticut Army National Guard to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. He quickly found himself amongst fellow CrossFitters and was part of the all volunteer coaching staff at CrossFit Arifjan. He was able share and spread his knowledge and enthusiasm with hundreds of soldiers and fellow Crossfitters during his free time over the 9 month deployment. While deployed to Kuwait Dave competed in the Battle of the East 2013 which was the first ever CrossFit Competition in the Middle East.

DAVID FLINT “FLINT”
Coach/Owner

Land Warrior CrossFit - Coach FlintDave began CrossFit in 2011 and instantly was hooked. He loved the idea that CrossFit can be challenging to everyone, yet anyone can do it. Dave knows that CrossFit is all about pushing yourself to your absolute limits, which is something he thrives at. He began coaching about 6 months after starting because he wanted to help other people see just how hard they could push themselves and teach them to be successful while doing it.

Dave has served in the military for 10 years and deployed to Afghanistan from 2005-2007 with the BCO 1-102nd Infantry. He is an active member to the Connecticut Civil Support Team with the Army National Guard. JASON
Head CoachJason

Jason joined the Land Warrior coaching team in 2015 just as the new space opened in Suffield. His fitness journey started in High School where he was a three sport athlete. He played football, basketball and competed in power lifting where he was the New York State Champion his junior and senior year in the 181 lb. class. With a passion for fitness, he continued his journey to Springfield College where he played football and rugby. After earning a bachelors in Applied Exercise Science, he was hired as a personal trainer at Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness. A short time later he earned the position of Head Trainer and remained there for 3 years. It was during this time that he was introduced to CrossFit and, as in most cases, was immediately hooked. At that facility he earned his L1 and started a CrossFit affiliate that grew rapidly. After less than a year, he knew it was necessary to relocate the affiliate in order to provide the best possible atmosphere for the athletes. After an amazing year and a half, he realized it was necessary for another move and that’s when he found Land Warrior CrossFit. He was then given the privilege to be the Head Coach, where he works tirelessly to make sure each athlete is given all the tools and direction to achieve their full potential. His biggest piece of advice for anyone trying to improve their fitness, decrease the stress in their lives and be a part of something special is simply to just walk through the door. Once you have a chance to meet the coaches and experience the community, you will realize that all the pieces you have been looking for to better yourself are right there. Jason let this place change him for the better and he knows it will do the same for you!!!

LAURA
Coach

Land Warrior CrossFit - Coach Laura

Laura has been active and involved in the fitness world pretty much her whole life and found CrossFit in 2013. Starting at a young age she did kid fitness classes and gymnastics, to which she discovered her passion! Helping people get fit! At the age of 18, she got certified to teach group exercise and went to college for applied exercise science. During this time she maintained her group exercise instruction, but expanded to personal training. After graduating, Laura had worked at a commercial gym, managed a corporate fitness center, and, (what she currently does) trains clients out of her house and runs outdoor bootcamps during the warm weather months. She is a busy mom of 3, but makes sure to find the time to get her CrossFit in! After many years of step aerobics, kickboxing, weight training, spinning, she reached boredom in her routine and lack of motivation. CrossFit entered her life at the perfect moment! Laura has never been bored since!

CHRIS
Coach

IMG_4237Coach Chris was introduced to Crossfit in 2013. Just like many of us, Chris was looking for a workout that would challenge him both physically and mentally. What Chris found was more than a great workout, he found an amazing group of athletes that cared about his performance as much as their own. Chris was an avid rock climber and a high school athlete, both which involved what he thought, a great amount of strength and endurance. CrossFit exposed all of his vulnerabilities and it offered the challenge he was looking for.

Chris received his CF-L1 in 2014, soon after starting CrossFit. He was impressed with the philosophy behind CrossFit and was very excited to help as many people as possible enjoy the same benefits that Chris received in his new found passion. Chris has been extremely instrumental in the development of Land Warrior’s off season sports training programs which offer both a strength building modality and also a total physical preparedness program for our local football, soccer and lacrosse programs.

Coach Chris is our go to guy for stretching concerns and mobility issues as he has really focused on learning as much as possible after receiving his CrossFit Mobility certification. Athletes with chronic flexibility issues have had much improvement with many of his techniques.

Stacey joined the Land Warrior coaching team in May of 2015.  She’s been participating in CrossFit since May 2012. Before CrossFit she was just a regular gym member. Once she discovered CrossFit she knew there was no going back.  Stacey loves seeing new people discover the sport and do something that they never thought they could do. She feels that watching members accomplish a goal off their list makes it all so rewarding. Outside of the gym you can find her being an amazing hairdresser in Windsor Locks.

KEVIN
Coach

IMG_1517

Kevin was introduced to CrossFit after completing about a year of boot camp style training with Coach Laura. Kevin and his wife Stacey were attending Coach Laura’s outdoor boot camp and training once a week. Laura stated to him, “Kevin, I think you should try CrossFit, you need more than just once a week training.” Kevin took Laura up on her offer by attending his first Land Warrior class in 2013 and has never looked back.
He was an active soccer coach for 8 years with the Suffield Soccer Club and holds his National Level E license. Kevin was extremely passionate about the training and growth of his teams and very fortunate to be able to watch both his sons and his daughter win numerous state titles.  Kevin started getting involved in the coaching roll as he helped the Suffield LAX and football teams train during the off season. It was only natural for Kevin to continue coaching in his new arena, CrossFit.  Kevin received his L1 in March of 2016 and has wasted no time in offering his new found knowledge here at Land Warrior. Kevin really enjoys working with new members and helping them feel as comfortable as they can. Kevin states, “I remember my first day and I was extremely nervous to walk through that door! I really want every single athlete, despite their age and physical ability, to feel comfortable and have the opportunity to feel the love and support that our Land Warrior family offers!” It is not uncommon to see Kevin attending many different class times with “first timers” to help make their first CrossFit experience as positive as possible.

JAKE
Coach

Jake

Jake Marconi is a lifelong athlete whose first experience with CrossFit occurred during his sophomore year of high school, when a conversation with his football coach about ways to bring the team’s training to the next level led to a collaboration with Land Warrior, and the rest is history. CrossFit’s logical, varied-intensity programming, added an edge to the team’s performance. Jake’s experience training with his teammates on and off the field helped him realize that his passion for athleticism lay in the process itself.

Jake brings his enthusiasm for training, team spirit, and positive attitude to our classes. Jake holds a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification and is currently a full-time student, completing a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurial studies at Johnson and Wales University with plans to pursue a career in the wellness industry. Look for him to coach a class when he’s back in the area on a break from school!  When he’s not training, he’s hitting the trails or the slopes, or catching up on the next great book. Ask him about his go-to gym beats, where to find the best spots to eat, and his first time competing at Wodapalooza!

SueSue began her CrossFit journey in August of 2013. To say it’s changed her life is an understatement, and being able to help others grow in their journey is the number one reason she got her L1 in 2016. She enjoys the methodology of CrossFit, the idea of general physical preparedness and being able to coach future generations to a healthier way of living.

KATRINA
Coach

Katrina
Growing up, Katrina was a competitive dancer and acrobat, ranking regionally and nationally with such awards as Dancer of the Year and Miss Acrobat of the United States. After high school she continued to dance professionally, traveling around the country and abroad with companies including Six Flags, Busch Gardens and Norwegian Cruise Line. After deciding to become a dance teacher/choreographer, she also started attending school and competing in Figure competitions which was a great outlet for her competitive personality. It was nice for the time but she was always left feeling like she needed more. CrossFit basically fell into her lap shortly after. She stumbled across an opportunity to become a coach at a new box opening the next town over from where she lived. Being that she was an Exercise Science major in school, it was an obvious choice to make. She had never done CrossFit so she signed up for a 3 class trial at Land Warrior when the box was still on Industrial Road in Windsor Locks. She was solo in her first class and was able to be one on one with the coach and take it slow. The second class however, she had to do a Hero WOD with a partner (Tio), that included 300 pull ups. 46 minutes later, her hands were ripped and bleeding, her chest and quads fatigued, she was soaked in sweat from head to toe and the best part was the support from people she had never met! That very night, she signed up for her CF-L1, she was hooked! The rest is history and she loves it more and more with every training session, every class she coaches and every event she attends.

ZACH
Coach

Zach
Coach Zach started with us back in the winter of 2013 as an athlete in our “pre-season sports program”. At the time, Zach was captain of the Suffield High School LAX team, as well as a defender for the school’s soccer team. Quickly he learned that the physical training offered during all his youth sports programs had met their match!
It did not take long for Zach to fall in love with the process of Crossfit and being naturally athletic, Coach Zach excelled quickly. Zach soon learned that Crossfit was much more than just a group of chalk clapping, sweat dripping twenty-something year olds trying to get buff, instead there was a powerful community involved that is behind you every step of the way. Zach loves to completely understand any process through trial and error, as well as research, and Zach did just that. He read all he could, studied the Crossfit philosophy, and was impressed with the proven, scientific methods and their results.
Coach Zach is a student at Springfield College and is majoring to become a Physician Assistant in the orthopedic field. His studies in the medical field only multiply his understanding of the human body, how it relates to both the physical movements, as well as understanding how nutrition plays an important role in this process.
Coach Zach typically coaches in the evening and when he is not coaching, he attends evening classes. He is always ready to offer advice at any time and will gladly help you with your fitness before he helps his own. We are very proud and fortunate to have been able to watch Zach enter our community as high school athlete, transform into an amazing Crossfit athlete, and now help others learn what he has learned along his journey.
